The group released its second album Diplomatic Immunity 2, in November 2004 on Koch. After a hiatus because of artistic differences, in 2010 the original members began recording music together again and announced a reunion album. In February 2011, it was announced that the group had signed with Interscope Records.
In 1999, fellow Harlem-based rapper Juelz Santana joined the group. "Oh Boy" held the number one spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles for five straight weeks, the number one spot on the Hot Rap Tracks and peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. The second hit was "Hey Ma", which reached number three on the Hot 100 and number eight on the UK Singles Chart, becoming his biggest hit.

However, in May 2013, Freekey Zekey revealed it no longer recorded for Interscope. In February 2011, it was reported The Diplomats had signed a record deal with Interscope Records. They also revealed plans for a reunion album to be released under the label. On November 15, 2017, Jim Jones announced on his Instagram that a new Diplomats single was to be released that night, titled "Once Upon a Time", and featuring him and Cam'ron. On November 22, 2017, The Diplomats revealed on MTV's TRL that they would be releasing an EP along with a documentary in the near future.
Later that night, the group performed a one night only reunion concert at the Manhattan Center, where they were joined by fellow New York group ASAP Mob. Come Home with Me is the third studio album by Harlem rapper Cam'ron and it is also his debut under Roc-A-Fella Records. The album was released on May 14, 2002, by Roc-A-Fella Records, Diplomat Records and Def Jam Recordings. It served as an introduction of the Cam'ron-fronted rap collective, the Diplomats, to the general public. There are featured guest appearances from the Diplomats, DJ Kay Slay, Daz Dillinger, Tiffany, Jay-Z, McGruff, Memphis Bleek, and Beanie Sigel. The first commercial appearance of the group was on Cam'ron's 2000 album S.D.E., released on Epic Records.

In late 2018, they released their first official album in 14 years, Diplomatic Ties, under Empire Distribution. In 2021, they participated in a Verzuz-related battle with The Lox. The home of the hustler and trendsetter, Harlem has played an integral role in helping instill a relentless grind and a flair for the dramatic in its inhabitants. This has proved true particularly in hip-hop, as a number of the storied neighborhood's favorite sons have incorporated the money-making ethos learned in those stomping grounds in the construction of their empires. Among this group is Cam'ron, who flipped a long-shot bet on himself into one of the most impactful movements in modern rap history.
And with nearly two decades since they initially took the world by storm, Cam'ron and company continue to put in work, individually and as a unit, a testament to their staying power and strength in numbers. Enter Roc-A-Fella, the towering movement co-led by his fellow Harlemite and longtime friend Dame Dash. Cam’ron has said that the two men had some kind of discrepancy at the time, but Dame overlooked it and gave Cam a second chance in the industry. Not only were they friends, Cam’ron was one of the most talented lyricists in New York City at the time. He came up sharpening his bars alongside Big L, Mase, and his cousin Bloodshed in Children of the Corn.

Reaching out to longtime friend and fellow Harlem native Damon Dash to help facilitate a release from Epic, Cam’ron gained his walking papers in 2001, making him a free agent at an opportune time. Deciding to remain with Dash and sign to the brash mogul’s own label, Roc-A-Fella Records, Cam’ron began to put his plan for domination into motion. In 2008, Jim Jones cut ties with ByrdGang rapper and former Dipset affiliate Max B over a sequence of financial and ethical disputes. Jones and Max B became involved in a bitter feud, exchanging numerous diss tracks and constantly bad-mouthing each other on interviews. In mid-2007, rumors began to circulate that the Diplomats had many rifts and disagreements with each other, specifically between Cam'ron and Jim Jones.
